Course Overview

This training course will cover the basics of building web pages using HTML. Lectures will cover an introduction of HTML and CSS, along with a brief introduction of JavaScript and Bootstrap.

Participants will be given extensive hands-on exercises to reinforce the lessons covered throughout the course. This training course was developed and is taught by some of the Philippines’ well-known and respected web developers, and uses the format trusted by some of the best companies in the Philippines.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will learn the basics of HTML programming and will learn how to build web pages using the technology.
  • Participants will leave the course with a workable foundation in HTML and CSS, which will enable them to move on to more advanced courses.

Introduction to HTML (Structure, Elements, and Tags)

  • Describing Understanding document/page structure
  • Learning about markup (HTML)
  • Tags and elements

Text (plus lists, links, and HTML 5 sectioning elements)

  • Text: Headings and paragraphs
  • Lists: Numbered, bullet
  • Links
  • Important text and emphasis
  • Quotations, abbreviations, etc.
  • HTML sectioning elements: <article>, <section>, <aside>, <nav>, <header>, <main>, <footer>

Images, Tables, Forms

  • Include an image in your web pages using HTML
  • Show an image at the right size
  • Information that suits tables
  • Creating tables
  • Representing complex data in tables
  • <form> and input control elements
  • Form validation

Extras (including comments and meta tags)

  • Evolution of HTML (DOCTYPE)
  • Comments in HTML code\
  • Global attribures: id, class
  • Block and inline elements (<div> and <span>)
  • Information about pages (<meta>)
  • Escaping characters

Introduction to CSS (Rules, Properties, and Values)

  • How CSS works
  • Rules, properties, and values
  • Adding CSS rules to HTML pages
  • Common CSS selectors: universal, type, class, id, child, descendant

Color and Text

  • Foreground and background color;
  • Color values: color names, hex codes, RGB values
  • Opacity (CSS3)
  • Properties to control: font, size, weight, style

Boxes, Positioning, and Layout

  • Control the dimensions of boxes
  • Margin, border, and padding
  • Positioning: static, relative, absolute

Media Query

  • Responsive web design
  • Using media queries to conditionally apply styles

Brief Introduction to JavaScript and Bootstrap

  • Evolution Introduction to JavaScript
  • Introduction to Bootstrap (CSS)
